A Field Story, the series

The Meeting, The Witness, The Men, The Ingenue, The Walkout
from the series "A Field Story"
each image twelve x twelves inches
acrylic on canvas
SOLD
I am very proud of this "Story", I am even happier that it was sold completely as a set. This work found it's beginnings in my love of period gangster films such as "Road to Perdition" and "Miller's Crossing" also the film, "Northfork" has served as a great inspiration, actually I feel that looking at my work, that I could've directed "Northfork", it fits so closely.
This has greatly inspired me to work on other "Stories" or multiple narrative pieces that flow together and I have started the sketches for "Lady With An Axe - A Garden Story" that I will be starting next week.
There was also alot of mention of crop circles and other phenomena, maybe that was because the X Files film was released this week, if that's what people saw in the work, well so be it.

This is completely self explanatory, I hope, if not, I will never design another poster. But if you need me to contact me here via email.

Signs about town

The first sign is on College in front of a Church, I can't recall it's name even though it's only two blocks from the Shoppe. I love that they have left it looking like this.
The second "Free" were piled at the outdoor rink in Trinity Bellwoods park by the Ice rink, apparently to assuage any feelings of guilt for folks who wanted to steal the wood, the city spent all kinds of cash to have people stencil the word "Free" onto them. Well it worked, they're all gone.

Here come the Drums...again.

Drums
eighteen x thirty six inches
acrylic on canvas
six hundred dollars

Four years ago still lives of drums figured rather prominently in my work. After painting at least ten of them I'd felt that I'd exhausted my interest and took a break, recently a friend asked about them and if I was still doing them, I told him I wasnt. After some deliberation and thinking I'd been spending too much time with the figure I created this piece.

The Done Right Inn

I have no excuse to have not posted this sooner, here's the mural at the Done Right Inn, which I did in March of this year, featuring everyone's favourite Mad Magazine folk Spy Vs. Spy, there isnt alot of detail here, it's a huge hit though.
Also for the month of August work from the "Fables" series will be showing at the Done Right Inn, so drop by and revisit the magic.

A project in the works

Here are some preliminary sketches for a series of four paintings for a wonderful friend. It is a chance for me to explore, the story of Icarus. Very excited to get started, stay tuned as the work develops, it's going to amaze ya.

Thanks to Mr.Micks for coming up with the slogan.

College Street Six AM, the morning commute...

I forgot to check if he made it across the street when I got home from work.

Get Lucky Tatty

Here's a tattoo design for the number one Mr. norman who had his CD release party at the Cloak last night, he is a talent, for sure. Stay tuned for the work I am drawing for his sister, no joke.
Has anyone heard that song on the radio that goes, "E yay E yay E yo" in the chorus, it is so lame, no tattoo designs for them.

Wolf Girls in the Trees

Wolf Girl {yellow dress}, Wolf Girl {red dress}
each piece is twelve x twelve inches, acrylic on canvas
SOLD

A couple of weeks ago my Mother and I went to view several shows from the Contact Photography festival that was happening all over this great city. I had been experiencing quite a lack of inspiration, we stumbled across a show of wolf masks, paper mache constructions made by young kids, I had to snap a few photos and then promptly made these two pieces. As a child I was fascinated by wolves, also my first tattoo was of a wolf {it's terrible}.

I also enjoyed returning to the image of the tangled tree which I have used in several paintings over the years. Ah, yes why are they in trees ? To get closer to the full moon of course.

Sunday, June Eighth we will be at "Karen Found It" in Mirvish Village showing our famous Alphabet letters, come by and say Hello.

The Faces and their Inspiration - a long story...

Utitled {Maple Leaf} Utitled {Eye Patches}

each image, twelve x twelve iches, acrylic o cavas

oe hudred ad twety dollars

I have a sick fascination with portraits, and paintings of faces, really uncomfortable {Chuck} close ups of faces,I find it remarkable that they capture my attention instantly, I'd stop doing CPR if someone walked past carrying a good portrait.
Years ago the KMFDM album "nihil" featured a painting that never left my head, look it up, it's striking, actually I'll post it here, maybe that's where it started.
Four/Five years ago at Katherie Mulherin, Margaux Williamson had a triptych of two young boys whose faces were painted white, there was a bridge image between them which was great too, anyways , I was so poor at the time I could't afford them, they sold the day after, I would've given up all my vices to buy those paintings, and yes, I have told her how much I love those kids and that they have never left my memory, they sit right beside that KMFDM cover in my visual rolodex.
Recently I saw a photo of actor/playwright Claire Calnan {see above} that made me decide to move back to portraits, here are two of the series of faces. The first isn't as successful as I thought it would be, I have to work the highlights more, I'll get it right soon. The second is from a photo I stole from my friend Vikki Anderson, which was an image that as soon as I saw it , I had to steal it. That's just the way I am.

Canadian Girl Project

Canadian Girl w/Blue jay, Canadian Girl w/ Crow {SOLD}, Canadian Girl w/Cardinal
each acrylic on canvas, twelve x twelve inches
one hudred and twety dollars each.
ALL PIECES SOLD, CUSTOM ORDERS ACCEPTED
There is a fourth missing from this series that I stepped on while walking through my studio in the dark, it has since undergone repair, and will get posted {at a reduced price}. I apologize for the photo quality, I'll say it's a theft thing, really I wanted to get them posted as I like them very much, so much I smash them with my feet apparently. This bridges my interest that was looked at in the Fables series of women w/ Totem/Guardian figures. Yes, I saw "the Golden Compass" , it was alright.

Graffiti's TShirt Design

This is a concept TShirt design for one of my favourite bars in the city, yes I know I do have alot of favourite bars, that's just the way I am. I love this, it is very successful as a T Design, I also hope to do a large painting ala those old liquor posters you see in framing shops around your city, it would be fantastic in that format. Not sure if these are going to get printed, but it is so boss, very happy with the design.

Best Live Show of the Year so far :Disfear at Sneaky Dee's check them out online if you like hardcore, it was an amazing show, thanks to Murder Mike and Grizzle for the invite to go, they kick ass.

Just look at this...

This happened over night.

Pub Life Sketches Eleven and Twelve

The first image is for a poster/TShirt for Kevin Quain and the mad bastards, if you've never seen them play at the Cameron House Sunday nights you are missing out on one of the greatest live acts in the history of this cursed city. He also plays Monday nights solo at Graffiti's in the market, Tuesdays at the Paddock and at The Rex, can't remember which evening that is, look it up. When you find out what I traded him this design for you will be so jealous your fillings will fall out.
The second image is for an old friend Duncan Nicholls who I went to Grand River High with, he now teaches there, which has to be strange, that's his band the Monster Show, who have a name that just begs for me to do a TShirt/Poster for. Check them out online.

SONG CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY HEAD: "By the Beautiful Sea" from Sweeney Todd, which if you don't know is where Belle and Sebastien ripped off all of their chops, so Sondheim should sue or maybe he gets a nice royalty cheque every month
