Here's a commission that I'm currently working on (sorry for the delay in posting a photo) placing the chairs is always the trickiest part, they have to look like they're moving together, almost like a flock but also each one needs a "role" to stand out, but compliment the overall composition.
That may not sound clear but it's what I think about as I decide the angle of each chair they also have to relate to the rowboat that will be on the right side of the piece.
It's thinking work - and it hurts my brain.
I'm also going to add some of my sketch pages to the blog as I work on some commissions, this is where the "Last Gorilla On The Moon" concept came from, I think it was around 2011 when I first thought about doing it. The "Red Queen" Note is completely lost from my memory - no idea what that painting was going to be about.
I'll be down at the Cameron House today from 4-7pm if you'd like to see the show, Corin Raymond should be performing so that's also a win for you.
I'll also be hanging a new large RAYGUN! at Snakes and Lattes today.
