Jerusalem {dyptych} each piece is twenty four x thirty inches, acrylic on canvas,
six hudred and fifty dollars each twelve hundred for the pair.
This just makes me so happy.I have been negligent in getting to this, I suppose I was unsure of where to start. Let's see, after doing so much work through the past few months on Fables I knew simply that first and foremost I needed to change formats, I like consistency in my series, I prefer a uniform size for my shows, at the end I eeded to excercise myself in a direction that would help shake things up for me, I have done over one hundred twelve x twelves in the past three years, and many two x two's, this was such a welcome adjustment just to move around the canvas more. Although similar to the "Playing the Martyr" series in Fables, there is something about the scale of this work that is immediate and powerful. Liig up a doze of these girls was a challege, the rhytthm of the piece relies more o the colour work, the lies of the drums and the ties, the eye follows.
I am very proud of this piece, it needed a proud title, "Jerusalem" has no meaning in regards to work itself, it still serves the piece well.
