Hey there folks, the show will be going up on Monday, it's going to be crazy, the walls of the Press Club may crumble under the sheer weight of the craziness. Everything (with the exception of these new works) will be priced to celebrate our 9th Anniversary, if you've always wanted a painting by A.Shay Hahn, April and May are the months for you.

One word of warning, I do not reserve work so if you want to buy come ready to pay, it's also fine to pay the staff at the Press Club and take the work home with you and there is an ATM on site.

The Press Club is located at 850 Dundas west and is usually open by 6pm.

I'm working like crazy on these but they are taking a very long time. Don't think that I start with a white canvas and have a finished painting by the end of the day I've been playing with this series for over a week already.

What I'm trying to get with this series is the feeling of an artists work, I want to create images that manifest the work of musicians that I love listening to. These are not interpretations of lyrics, they're ideas based on the artist's lyrical work and how I feel when I hear them.

I tried to do a series (see Tom Waits Project) that was literal interpretations of song lyrics, but I got bored, this is a far better route for a "diarist" painter like myself. Perhaps that only diarist painter you've ever heard of.

Anyways, this painting will probably inspire a legion of copies so once again we place our trusty spoiler card on it.

As you can see I've added the "I.D's" to my paintings once again. Recently I've had one image stolen and used on a product in an Etsy shop and yesterday another image was used on Face Book and shared over 100 times without credit to me as the artist, both situations have now been fixed but the experience of course has made for the return of my spoiler cards.

I also officially hate this shitty camera and will be switching to another, somehow this one is going blind to detail and depth and the above image is shit, this will also serve to prevent theft but it sure looks bad.

A Group of Rayguns is called a Blast

Getting eight new Rayguns! ready for the Press Club in April/May. These will be displayed in two unique frames with four Rayguns! per frame, they are going to look very, very boss. I'm moving into doing more large scale work this year and will be moving and selling off all of the smaller work that I have in the studio, have a look at prior posts to see what's available.
