Sketchbook Splurge and Mandarin Orange Crate Crafts

The top photo is me getting just a little bit nuts and going on a sketchbook binge, I had been told by a clerk that the Cachet, 8.5x11 landscape sketchbook may be discontinued so I went all over Toronto to find the last of them and snatch up as many as my budget allowed. When I finally found a store that had them (Thank you Toose!) I was told that the series is still available to order and the information I was given was incorrect. I still bought four of the buggers. I love the style, I love the landscape format even though its just taking a regular 8.5x11 and binding it on the side. I love the way they open and I love that they could at least TWICE what a normal 8.5x11 costs, so I bought four, that should tide me over until the spring.
I also picked up the last 7x7 (top of pile) that they had at Above Ground just because it's a really cool size, yes I am easily impressed when it comes to sketchbooks, they also had a great deal on three packs of  6x9 (I think) sized landscape style so I bought a three pack of those. Looks like we're set, no excuse to not do any drawing now.
The photo below is of a mandarin orange crate that I converted into a Troop Carrier while I was sitting around sick in front of the TV about a week ago. You can see how it was built over at the Any How Town blog (see links).
It's not too late to  head to the Press Club and pick up a painting for a Christmas Gift, you can see what is there at the post below.
have a great holiday if you don't hear from me until after Christmas, thanks for your support in 2012

Also included here are two shots of the tables in the front room and the very cool carving and scratching that is slowly turning them into their own unique art pieces, I'm almost sure that I'm going to reshoot the first table top and frame it, click on it if you don't think it's cool, one click will change your mind.
I'd also like to mention that if you go to the Press Club you can also see Jack Breakfast's excellent photos of birds, they are framed and wonderfully priced for Christmas, you should really check them out.
I cannot believe that I still have any of the work that is posted in the photo at the top of this blog entry, each and every one of those paintings deserves to be in a good home. It's crazy that they haven't sold yet.
alright, I've got some work to do, have a great day

Last Day at the Cameron House, Buy Local post

Well the festive season is upon us and here I am without any Mandarin Oranges so please head on down to the Cameron House today (opens at 5pm) and have a look at the show, I'm sure there is something there that reminds you of someone you love. It's perfectly alright to purchase (cash only) from the bar staff and take the painting or paintings home with you. Paintings are priced between $140.00-$500.00.\

As an added bonus for you the Cameron House also sells alcohol, they also supply live music which will be played by the professor himself Kevin Quain and his very helpful backing support The Mad Bastards. He will soon be ending his eighteen year residency at the Cameron so you'd better see him before this  unique show vanishes into the mists of Queen West Legend and Lore, I'm also completely sick of the history of Queen West Legend and Lore and never want to hear about it again- so go see Kevin Quain in the present, you'll enjoy it far more. I would also reccomend on this Christmas excursion, purchasing Whitney Rose's first CD and also Tarantuela's first album both available at the Cameron House for $15.00 each.

If you're at all curious about the Mandarin Orange crate head over to my other blog Any How Town (see links) and see what I did with this crate whilst lying sick in bed, with my dog at my feet watching Harper's Island on netflix.
that's about enough of me,
